I used to have a problem - I was a chronic food-waster.
Every week I would stock my fridge with fresh fruit and veggies, intending to eat a heathy dose of plants yet every week I would throw out a ton of waste into the green bin.
I quit wasting food by making leftover smoothies and cleaned up my fridge at the same time.
This leftover smoothie recipe gives you a lot of bang for your blend. No produce is safe from the blender except for onions or anything in the onion family, most herbs because they are too strong and potatoes because ew!
Throw the following in a blender:
- Two cups orange juice
- 1/3 cup carrot juice
- One apple
- A handful of mixed greens
- 2 spoon scoops of papaya fruit
- 1 ½ Tablespoons of chia seeds
- ½ teaspoon papaya seeds
- ½ teaspoon spirulina
- ½ teaspoon dulse
