Wacky Wakame Seaweed Smoothie Recipe
The words "seaweed smoothie recipe" does not get most taste buds salivating but this is a great blend to get started adding seaweed to your diet. The flavour of the wakame seaweed is relatively mild. Most of you have already eaten it in the popular Japanese soup - Miso.
Alright, seaweed lovers (and soon-to-be seaweed lovers), we have a smoothie recipe for you! We decided to start with using wakame as the sea green because it is widely available from your local health food store and it has fabulous powers. We detailed some of the benefits in our last post but let’s focus on our muscles for this one.
Among other things, seaweed contains extraordinarily high counts of calcium and iron (a tablespoon of wakame can contain 60mg of calcium). Calcium is especially great for those who hit the gym because it aids in muscle contraction and healing. Iron, of course, is fantastic for our circulatory system and helps provide energy.
Quick tip: hydrate dried seaweed first before blending. Wakame with expand 20 X the size so a little really does go a long way!
WACKY WAKAME SMOOTHIE
- 1 banana
- 1 cup spinach
- 1 cup of coconut milk or regular milk
- 1 tbsp wakame seaweed
- ½ Granny Smith apple
