Our popular Ocean Goddess Bath Tea is up for an award!

SeaLuxe is floored. We just received word that our little company is one of the finalists in the Made in Vancouver awards!

We’re so proud that our popular Ocean Goddess Bath Tea was selected as one of the top local products in the beauty category.

“We were blown away by both the number of entrants, and the level of excellence in the entries – being chosen as a finalist is a true accomplishment,” said Vancouver Magazine editorial director Anicka Quin.

We can’t even begin to describe what an honour it is to even be recognized by Vancouver Magazine. VanMag has been around for 50 years with its informative coverage of issues, people, places, and events that shape this wonderful city. It also includes fashion and travel guides as well as reviews of the newest restaurants in town along with the best in wine and spirits.

A team of judges tested each entry in the first-ever awards (called MIVA for short). In addition to local beauty products, other categories include: Drink, Fitness, Food, Home, Style, and Wildcard (for all the goods that didn’t quite fit the above categories but are deserving of a shout-out).

“I am over the moon,” said SeaLuxe founder Tanya Droege about the VanMag’s MIVA nomination.

“I am over the moon,” said SeaLuxe founder Tanya Droege. “Mixing salts and flowers is something I started when I was nine and really was the first gift-worthy thing I ever made.”

Interestingly, our Ocean Goddess Bath Tea was invented by another young girl. Tanya’s niece, Molly, was making gifts for her mom and grandma in Tanya’s kitchen. Molly, who loves the ocean and all its creatures (she has a dream of being a marine biologist), came up with the lovely concoction that would be Ocean Goddess Bath Team in five minutes.

“It takes me months – sometimes years to prefect a scent!” said Tanya. “I’m so happy to be one of the finalists but I’m super-pumped that it’s Ocean Goddess Bath Tea that was chosen. Molly can be proud as well!”

Winners will be announced and profiled in Vancouver Magazine’s July/August issue. Every finalist is invited to participate in the first ever Made in Vancouver pop-up showcase this fall. We’ll keep you posted on those details as soon as we hear more.
