Orange Vanilla Recovery Smoothie Recipe
Some of our readers like to get a jump on their day by doing a workout. Most of these people say the same thing - they work out and then they eat breakfast.
The reasons are varied. Some claim working out before breakfast even a couple days a week is a great way to jump start the metabolism (there is some science behind this particularly for women. It’s called crescendo fasting) while others say eating breakfast before getting the blood flowing makes them feel nauseous.
Whatever your reason, it’s important to fuel your body with nutrients and protein after a workout. Feed those muscles and your brain. Plus – who can resist the delicious combination of orange and vanilla?
Without further ado, here is our favorite post-recovery smoothie recipe:
Orange You Glad For Vanilla
2 medium-sized oranges or five mandarin oranges (peeled and seeds removed)
2 Medjool dates (pitted)
1 tbsp of nut butter (we like almond or peanut)
1 tbsp vanilla protein powder (FYI be careful on choosing protein powders. More here.)
½ cup coconut milk
½ teaspoon vanilla
Handful of ice cubes
Blend and enjoy!
