Cold Be Gone - Smoothie Recipe

Ugh. Spring cold, anyone? Getting a cold from time to time is inevitable. While vitamin C unfortunately doesn’t do much to stave off getting a cold, it makes a difference in duration and severity.

Vitamin C is highly concentrated in immune cells and is quickly depleted during an infection which is why it’s a good idea to make sure you get enough of it, preferably from whole food sources. An analysis of 29 studies showed that supplementing your diet with one to two grams per day is enough to shorten the duration of a cold by 8% in adults and 14% in children on average.

In an attempt to boost my immune system, I’ve been drinking this yummy vitamin C smoothie.

Cold Be Gone Smoothie

  • ½ cup frozen mango chunks

  • 1 banana

  • 2 peeled oranges

  • 1 cup coconut water
