Choco-Berry Smoothie Recipe
Who are these magical creatures who eat healthy things ALL the time? Not us!
We learned about moderation some time ago, back when we used to be more strong-willed and eat chicken with salad for almost every dinner. But, guess, what? That got boring. Not only that, but the pendulum swung hard in the opposite direction and then it was junk food feast time. The only thing that works for us is to eat healthy most of the time but allowing for treats here and there. A nutritionist told me the 80-20 rule is the one that works for most people (that’s 80 per cent good food and 20 per cent bad).
That’s why we occasionally post smoothie recipes that are more on the naughty side of things than the nice. Because, as mentioned, treats are good.
So, if you’re looking for ideas to fill that 20 per cent side, look no further than this scrumptious smoothie recipe, featuring strawberries and white chocolate!
¼ cup of chopped, good quality white chocolate (we get ours from our chocolatier Chez Christophe)
½ cup milk or vanilla ice cream
¼ cup plain yogurt (eliminate if using ice cream)
1.5 cup frozen strawberries
* handful of ice cubes only if using fresh strawberries
Heat the milk and white chocolate together (low on the stove using the bain-marie method – put a heatproof bowl over a saucepan) or for 20 seconds in the microwave using a microwave-safe bowl.
Throw everything into the blender until smooth.
Blend and enjoy!
