Blackberry Summer Smoothie Recipe
One of the best things about summer is blackberries! It’s the one tradition that’s carried over from childhood. Remember being out on your bike all day with your friends and when you were hungry, you’d tackle a blackberry bush until your mouth and fingers were stained purple?
Happily, blackberry bushes are in abundance in most places where wild things are permitted to grow.
While blackberry pie ranks up there as my Number One favourite pie (paired with vanilla ice cream… just out of the oven….) I get that it’s not the healthiest thing for breakfast. Every day, anyway!
So, here’s a great alternative if you love blackberries as much as I do. The Greek yogurt gives it a protein kick but if you’re watching what you eat, feel free to add a scoop of chia seeds or vanilla protein to bump it up.
Blackberry Summer Smoothie
1 cup of fresh blackberries
½ frozen banana
½ cup of plain Greek yogurt
¾ cup unsweetened almond milk
1 teaspoon of local honey to sweeten
Blend and enjoy!
