Gifts of Giving
"Oh, you don’t have to get me anything.”
We’ve probably all have heard this one before. The person who is difficult to buy for not only because they don’t offer any suggestions, but also because they insist they don’t need anything. That may be true, but the gift of giving is something that can’t be ignored during the season of giving. So – what to do?
My go-to is to create a personalized gift basket of things most people will use and enjoy. I will purchase a bottle of wine (or even a growler from your favourite craft brewery – there are some delicious beers out there) and add some pampering products. For women, I add the Driftwood or Rose Whipped Body Butter and a Pretty in Pink soap. For men, I add the True Grit Exfoliating Scrub Bar and the Westcoast Eco-Soy Candle (guys love that particular candle as I’ve been told it reminds them of camping in the woods).
I’ll also top off the gift basket with a donation in their name to a charity. I know many animal lovers who are thrilled that their “I don’t need anything” has helped injured wildlife at Burnaby’s Wildlife Rescue, abandoned parrots at Greyhaven Exotic Bird Sanctuary, senior animals at Mission's Saints Rescue or homeless kitties at C.A.R.E.S. cat shelter in Langley.
It’s a gift that not only keeps giving, but it’s a gift that will be remembered.
